The goal of CSCP is to collect and share information on hazardous and potentially hazardous ingredients in cosmetics sold in California and to make this information available to the public.
Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry
Great database for toxic substances. The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), based in Atlanta, Georgia, is a federal public health agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. ATSDR protects communities from harmful health effects related to exposure to natural and man-made hazardous substances. They do this by responding to environmental health emergencies; investigating emerging environmental health threats; conducting research on the health impacts of hazardous waste sites; and building capabilities of and providing actionable guidance to state and local health partners.

Database of EWG approved products. When you see the EWG VERIFIED® mark on a product, you can be sure it's free from EWG's chemicals of concern and meets their strictest standards for your health.
“Is the only human health and ecosystem-focused product certification program”. They certify products that are made without harmful chemicals.
Clean products that include sun care, skin care, makeup, body care, wellness and hair products that are made without the Detox Market’s banned ingredient list (listed on their website). They review over 800 products each year with less than 2% added to their offerings.
Center for Science for the Public Interest
CSPI's Chemical Cuisine database rates additives—used to preserve foods or affect their taste, texture, or appearance—from ‘safe' to 'avoid.'
U.S. Food and Drug Administration
Substances added to food database. Tells you what the substance is used for and any other names it goes by. Does not give any details of side effects from use.
Organic Crop Production: Synthetic Substances Allowed per USDA
These are the synthetic substances may be used in organic crop production provided that the use of such substances do not contribute to contamination of crops, soil, or water.
